Ex-soldier dies, live-in partner injured in robbery

A RETIRED soldier was killed while his live-in partner was wounded in a robbery in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Sunday.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula spokesperson Rogelio Alabata said the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Purok 1 in the village of Banker, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Alabata identified the fatality as Noel Caballero, a retired soldier and was into the rubber business. Caballero's live-in partner, Ronely Legara, was wounded.

The police said three masked gunmen barged into Caballero's house and shot the victims. They carted P52,000 cash.

A certain Helen Anora, who was in front of the house of the victims, was also robbed with P220,000 cash but was left unscathed.

The suspects then fled towards the hinterland of the village of Sininan, Kabasalan after the incident. (VoxPop Philippines)
