THE 1st Kadayawan Fide-Rated Open Rapid Chess Championships will unfurl on August 12 at the Eskina, Lanang Business Park.
National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) regional director James Infiesto bared this in a recent Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum.
Infiesto said with a registration fee of P300, chessers will have a chance to compete in a Fide-Rated chesssfest that expects participants from other cities.
"I have confirmed participants from Luzon and Visayas but mostly from Mindanao," Infiesto said, adding that NCFP, Fide and the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) joined forces to make the event possible.
The champion will pocket P20,000 and a trophy while the next three placers will take home P10,000, P5,000 and P2,500, respectively.
The fifth to 10th placers, meanwhile, will claim P1,000 consolation prize.
The top three kiddies placers will also receive P1,000, P750, and P500 while top three juniors and top three female players will win P1,500, P1,000 and P500.
A special prize of P1,000 will also be awarded to the person with disability, top senior, top employee and top executive.
