URUGUAYAN Maor Rozen, a former Kaya and Union Football club coach, launched the Philippine edition of his “Tactics from the Roots” Wednesday in Bacolod City.
The book published by COC Foundation intends to contribute to the best development of football in the country, to develop the coaches’ ability to analyze, optimize the understanding of the game from early age, and create a new generation of local talents aiming for the formation of the integral player.
Rozen, who has been coaching in the Philippines for a decade as well as conducting football clinics for both players and coaches alike throughout the country, said he wrote the book as a way of saying thank you for the good things he had in the Philippines.
“They were some of the best times of my life,” he told the Bacolod scribes.
“When I first came here, I could see the passion for the game but the level of football wasn’t as high. Coming back now, you can see how the game has grown not only in terms of popularity but also tactically. This book talks about tactics from what I have observed and maybe this can also be a tool for the Filipino coach,” Rozen added.
Tarlac First District Representative Carlos Cojuangco, president and chairman of COC Foundation Inc., said he believes that a program for this kind of undertaking must be sustained in a medium and long term and must continuously gain support from all stakeholders if the country wants to develop homegrown players, who can compete in the global football fields.
