THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental has turned over last Tuesday, April 11, some P328,900 worth of construction materials to address the infrastructural needs of the congested jail facility in Gingoog City.
Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano handed over construction materials such as cement, tiles, toilet bowl, plywood, nails, and other construction materials to repair the damaged structures of the detention facility.
The Gingoog city jail which can only accommodate a maximum of 80 inmates has 220 prisoners at present.
Jail warden Senior Inspector Carlo Obrique thanked the Provincial Government for the assistance, saying the materials will be used to repair the bunk beds of the inmates.
"Gamit gyud kaayo para repair sa ilang bed bunks. Ang last repair sa uban kay in 2008,"Obrique said.
Obrique said they were initiating the minor repairs then while waiting for assistance from any government agency.
"Pasalamat gyud mi kang Governor Emano sa maong tabang kay kaniadto kami na lang ang gahimo sa mga minor repairs," Obrique added.
Obrique added the jail facility needs more building but that would cost a big amount of funding and needs interference from the National Government.
Obrique also said they are processing the transfer of lot title to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
"Based sa regulation sa COA (Commission on Audit), dili katukod ang BJMP og building kung ang titulo sa yuta dili matransfer sa ngalan sa bureau so mao ni among gi-proseso karon," Obrique said.
