BACOLOR, Pampanga -- Mayor Jomar Hizon said he is not in favor of the two day transport strike initiated by transport groups opposed to the government's jeepney modernization program.
In a telephone interview the otherday, Hizon said the transport strike on Monday and Tuesday will paralyze the the riding public particularly commutters.
"Para sa akin hindi yata tama na pahirapan natin ang mga tao, lalo na wala naman silang kasalanan. Dapat ay sa korte nila dalhin ang kanilang reklamo at hindi sa daan," Hizon said.
The three term Bacolor mayor said that he recently met with leaders of the transport sector based in Pampanga and advised them to file a case in court and ask for a temporary restraining order (TRO).
"I told them it is the right thing to do, since it is a question of law let the court decide in the matter," he said.
Hizon said he even offered transport group a lawyer who will help them in pursuing the case in court.
"Ï believe in the justice system that regardless of ones status the law applies to everyone and no one is above it," the mayor added.
The Provincial Government and other local government units in Pampanga have declared Monday a no-class for public schools and no-work for government offices due to the nationwide transport strike initiated by PISTON and other transport groups. (Chris Navarro)
