Gov’t official, 2 others arrested for drug possession

THE police arrested three people, including a government official, for possession of illegal drugs Wednesday, March 15, in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Zamboanga Sibugay Police Director Romulo Cleve Taboso identified the arrested suspects as Jemar Usman, 37, a village councilor of Caliran, Mabuhay, Abdulmahin Jammang, 28 and Abdurahman Hussin, 36.

Taboso said the suspects were arrested around 4:03 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Lapirawan, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said the policemen of Alicia town were conducting security checkpoint when they saw one of the three suspects throw a small folded paper as they were about to walk past the checkpoint.

The police director said the content of the folded paper turned out to be small sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, prompting the police to arrest them.

Taboso said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them.
