MOVING forward with his advocacy to implement an excellent drivers’ education, Representative Carmelo Lazatin II filed House Bill No. 4175.
Sharing his insights, he states, “I believe in the unlocking of remarkable public safety programs. Thus, let us spark off the “golden age” of enlightened road travel in our dynamic 21st century.”
Importantly, the bill is entitled as “Providing for a Drivers’ Education Program as an Elective for Senior High School Students in Public and Private Secondary Schools and Appropriating Funds or Drivers’ Education Elective Act.”
Zooming on its meritorious essence, it reads as “By implementing a drivers’ education program as an elective class for students in Grades 11 and 12 in both public and private secondary high schools all over the country. Students will have a greater and in-depth knowledge of both the theoretical and practical aspects of driving. Equipping would-be drivers with the know-how needs to carry out good and safe driving is one of the key measures necessary in ensuring safer roads for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike.”

Cong. Lazatin’s bill is truly an outstanding legislation on drivers’ education. Empowered by these three pillars, it bespeaks of life enhancement and well-being.

First, incorporating the subject in the curriculum, gives the assurance that our students from Batanes to Jolo will benefit from its gems of knowledge.
Springing up with enthusiasm, Tom a 18- year- old student said, “Yes I would be the first one to enroll once it is offered. Valuing safe driving, I want the security of drivers, passengers and the general riding public.”
Second, local community from the barangay level spanning from Pampanga crisscrossing to the pathways of Mindanao, will gain the highest peak benefits from its passage.
Robert M. a 37-year-old tricycle driver stated, “Masanting ya ing panukala ini Cong. Makasaup ya kekaming magmaneho.” (What a noble law proposed by Cong. It will provide wheel safety for the drivers.)
Third, leadership is an inspiring light to uphold public safety. Leaders in Congress, House No.17 are the vital springboard who steer the wheels of protection for the driving and riding public.
