THE third regional director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) is an Ilonggo.
Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, acting director of PRO-NIR, confirmed this to reporters Wednesday, May 10 but refused to name the police official.
Gumban will retire from the police service on May 21 at 55 years old, the mandatory retirement age of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The retirement honors and turn-over ceremony to be led by PNP Chief Ronald de la Rosa will be held on May 19 at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City.
Gumban is the second PRO-NIR director to retire after Chief Superintendent Conrado Capa, who retired in August 2016 after serving as the first director of PRO-NIR, which was organized in November 2015.
Gumban said he has an idea about his successor, but he does not want to preempt the decision of the national headquarters.
The names of Chief Superintendents Edwin Jose Nemenzo, Edmundo Gonzales, and Bartolome Tobias were earlier mentioned in reports. (GYM)
