THE Holy Cross College of Sasa (HCCS) beat Philippine Women's College (PWC), 58-43, to place third in the Davao Association of Catholic Schools (Dacs) High School basketball tournament at the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) Bajada Gym Saturday morning, September 24.
HCCS top scorer Keith Almeda sank 18 points while PWC's Jasper Gio made nine baskets.
Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) won the title over Assumption College of Davao (ACD) last weekend.
The Ranilo Aro-mentored HCCS leaned on the services of Glen Anthony Pasquito, Almeda, Richard Lomosco, Christian Mayo, Genesis Merin, Grem Ray Alpas, Christian Tobes, Joshua Awing, Mark Jollores, Jude Bantan, JeoOndevillam Shaquille Dimacuta, Nikko Sisa, Kerwin Navarro and James Dera.
Aro, in an interview with VoxPop Davao, said they were still not in good shape but they are looking forward to improve in upcoming events.
"Marami pa kaming kulang para matapatan ang top three teams ng Davao which is 'yung Ateneo, Assumption, and Holy Child," Aro said.
Aro said he hopes to hone their defense and boost their endurance as most of the teams they played against were into running game.
PWC settled for fourth place.
