THE police are conducting an in-depth probe to identify the people behind the attempt to kill a health official in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said a fragmentation grenade was safely recovered in front of the house of Dr. Ulysses Chiong, 57, in the village of Magdaup, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Alabata said the grenade was recovered after Chiong noticed the explosive placed at the front tire of his motorcycle as he was about to go to work around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Chiong, who is a provincial health officer of Zamboanga Sibugay, immediately called the police.
Police investigation is ongoing.
