THE Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 10 scheduled next week the hearing of the motion to release the vehicle boarded by the father of the Maute brothers and his companions when they were arrested at a checkpoint in Davao City last month.
Presiding Judge Retrina Fuentes of the RTC Branch 10 scheduled the hearing on 8:30 a.m. of Friday, July 21, following the motion earlier filed by the legal counsel of the owner of the Toyota Grandia that was driven by Esmael Salazar.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Alexander Tagum, in a text message, confirmed that the Toyota Grandia is in their custody at the Camp Domingo Leonor, San Pedro Extension, Davao City.
Maute brothers' father Cayamora Maute, Norjannah Maute-Tingao, Benzar Ali Iman Tingao and Kongan Alfonsa Balawag were earlier charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
The four accused were onboard a black Toyota Grandia van when they were arrested on the routine check around 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, in Barangay Sirawan, Toril.
Cayamora and Nurjanna Maute, reportedly, have outstanding warrants of arrest for kidnapping, illegal detention, and illegal possession of explosives issued by the court in Lanao del Sur.
The four accused are currently detained at the Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig since the transfer of their custody on Wednesday, June 7, for security reasons. The four were airlifted via a C130 of the Philippine Air Force.
