THE Zamboanga City Health Office revealed that cardiovascular disease remains the top leading cause of death for Zamboangueños this year.
Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, city health officer, said data from January to October 2016 lists myocardial infarction, commonly known as heart attack, as the top leading cause of mortality in the city.
Agbulos did not however release specific figures.
Agbulos, with the Christmas season just around the corner, took the time to caution the public against overindulgence, and advocated instead for moderation in meals and drinks to remain in good health.
He also urged the residents to practice healthy diet and regular physical activities.
After myocardial infarction, pneumonia, cerebrovascular disease, cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, vehicular accident, gunshot wound, aspiration pneumonia, and diabetic nephropathy make up the top leading causes of mortality in this city. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
