ACTRESS Heart Evangelista assured everyone that her relationship with close friend, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, is beyond politics.
Evangelista posted an Instagram photo with husband Senator Francis Escudero when they went to the Commission on Elections on Thursday for the filing of the latter's certificate of candidacy for vice president.
She wrote "God bless you sweetheart" and used the hashtag "#gracechiz2016" as show of support to Escudero and his running mate Senator Grace Poe.
Some of her followers then queried about her relationship with Santiago, who is gunning for the presidency with Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as her preferred running mate.
One follower wrote: "Paano na si fairy godmother/ninang Miriam Defensor-Santiago? Huhu I thought you won't take sides on the presidential candidates."
Evangelista replied that her relationship with Santiago will never be affected by politics.
"I stand by my husband. My relationship with Tita Miriam is beyond all of 'this.' She will always be my second mom," the actress said.
Santiago was the matchmaker of Evangelista and Escudero.
The female senator also supported the couple when the actress' parents were against the relationship.
Santiago stood as godmother to their wedding in February. (Sunnex)
