A FORMER police officer and his daughter died in a vehicular accident in Barangay Balud, San Fernando, Cebu last Sunday morning.
Investigators identified the casualties as Elezar Nadela Abregana and Janet Abregana Hernit, residents of Sitio Langub, Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.
According to a radio dyHP report, Abregana was driving a motorcycle with Hernit as his passenger.
They were heading to Carcar City when they hit a truck, which was making a left turn in an intersection past 4 a.m.
Danilo Lawas Cañas, the truck driver, told police he did not notice the motorcycle.
It was also possible that Abregana did not see the truck since it was still dark.
His motorcycle slammed into the rear of the truck.
Abregana and Hernit suffered severe injuries in the head and other parts of their bodies.
Police rushed them to the Carcar City District Hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival.
Cañas, who was arrested after the incident, might face complaints for homicide if he and the victims’ family don’t reach a settlement.
