Home fire safety lectures set

THE City Council of Bacolod requested the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) through Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, city fire marshal, to conduct home fire safety and prevention lecturers in the city’s 61 villages.

The request was stated in a resolution passed during the last session with the aim to motivate the public to take fire safety as everybody's concern.

Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, who authored the resolution, said the first quarter of each year records many fire incidents happening in the city and across the country.

The resolution noted that the BFP is the government agency mandated to prevent and suppress all kinds of destructive fires, investigate its causes, enforce fire-related laws and provide emergency medical and rescue services.

It must come up with programs and activities towards fire safety at home that will motivate the public to take fire safety as everyone’s concern, it added.
