TWO alleged human traffickers were arrested at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, April 7, inside a hotel in Purok Ube, Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.
Police identified the suspects as Mara Perez Pilapil, 45, and her sister Kathleen, 38.
Three women---ages 20, 22 and 24---were rescued by the operatives.
Operatives caught the suspects after receiving P15,000 in boodle money.
The Pilapils will face complaints for allegedly violating Republic Act (RA) 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons) as amended by RA 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons), RA 9775 (Anti-Child Pornography Law), and RA
10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act). These are non-bailable offenses.
The entrapment operation was carried out by Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Visayas Field Unit, Lapu-Lapu City Intelligence Branch, Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 3, Women and Children's Protection Desk and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
