I See Italy, France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland

THIS is an exciting month for the food scene. German, Italian, French, Spanish and Swiss cuisines are highlighted in L' Fisher Hotel's weekend buffets.

"Bon Appetit, A European Culinary Journey" heralded the anniversary month of the hotel with a Friday seafood buffet last September 1 at the Ripples. The regular unlimited seafood fare was joined by a special international menu to celebrate L' Fisher Hotel's 27th anniversary in the industry.

Gourmets and gourmands alike will have a fantastic trip at any of the stations lined up so temptingly – appetizers, breads, cheeses, salads, drinks, main courses, and desserts. When assaulted by a dizzying array of food, I freeze and so does my brain and then I end up not knowing where to begin.

It was either fight or flight, so, I fought for my right to self-preservation by making a bold step toward the cheeses. Aaaahhh…des frommages – bleu, gorgonzola, brie, raclette – I can only name a few, but I can eat a lot!

It takes willpower to not eat too much especially if a huge paellera is saying, "Hola!" at the corner of the counter. On the way there, the saumon au beurre citron winked and said, "Bonsoir", so, I backpedalled and, oh-la-la, I had to have some delicious flaky salmon.

It was after I was summoned by the saumon when, bidding me to come, were the dazzling desserts perched on little shelves flanking a ferris wheel that was taking several delicate lemony cupcakes out for a spin. Ach! This sight was too much for me. Too much! Too much that I wanted to sob from confusion and this made the fresh fruits peacefully nestled on their platters console me with their refreshingly healthy kindness.

It was only when I calmed down that I mustered the strength to confront the pastel-colored meringues. And the panna cotta. And the petit fours. I confidently told them and their sweet cohorts that I will not be bullied again. Then, being the good girl that I am, I gobbled them up.

For three days a week this September, one will have a diverse menu in order to enjoy European dishes. Fridays are seafood and international buffet dinners, Saturdays are for European dinners sans the unlimited seafood, and Sundays are for those who prefer having lunch. Take advantage of L' Fisher Hotel's European spread for the whole month while you can. There is always something new each time. Then, like Scarlett O' Hara, you will vow "never to go hungry again."
