THE identification cards of taxi drivers who attended the seminars last week will be out before the culmination of the 80th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.
Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office Head retired Senior Superintendent Dionesio Abude said the IDs of the taxi drivers will be released today and on March 15.
These identification cards will only be given to the 2,000 drivers who attended the seminar last March 7 and 9 at the Almendras Gym.
The seminar reminded the drivers of the provisions of the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Code of Davao City or City ordinance 778 which includes anti-jaywalking law.
“These rules do not include pedestrians, but also those drivers who are loading and unloading passengers in the restricted areas,” said Donald Estoquia, one of the members of Anti-Jaywalking Unit who gave a talk during the seminar.
Taxi drivers were also reminded about road safety measures and safety driving.
Last Wednesday March 8, 2017, Assistant City Administrator Lawrence Bantiding said the IDs of the attendees of the first batch of seminar last March 7 were being printed.
The conduct of seminars was considered by the city government after reports of erring drivers without IDs were allegedly involved in the spray modus, wherein taxi drivers allegedly spray fumes that make passengers dizzy.
Some taxi drivers who attended the first batch of the seminar denied that this kind of modus exists in Davao.
