THE Iloilo City Government is set to host a two-day visit of around 10 British parliamentary leaders on September 21-23, according to city tourism officer Junel Ann Divinagracia.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog welcomed the recommendation of Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III for the city to host members of the British parliament to see the city’s best practices especially its grassroots programs.

The British parliamentarian leaders are also expected to look into the projects of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and may hopefully recommend their own system of social services.

Divinagracia said the visit is a good chance of Iloilo City in showing off its best practices and the ongoing progress of Iloilo to the British parliamentarians and to provide a venue for discussions on mutual coordination program especially on best practices in tourism, health, education and social economic development.

Iloilo City is considered a liveable and peaceful city in the country.

It is the regional center of Western Visayas aside from being recognized as the educational center in the Visayas by hosting several colleges and universities as well as schools for special studies.

Divinagracia said residents, hotels, restaurants, public markets, and public transport are encouraged to welcome the British parliamentary leaders and show off the true Ilonggo hospitality. (LCP/Sunnex)
