MALACAÑANG on Saturday guaranteed an "impartial and fair" investigation into the botched police operation in Mandaluyong City that killed two individuals and injured two others.
Communications Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar gave assurance that there would be no whitewash in the inquiry.
"The public can get assurance that there will be no whitewash [in the investigation]... It's important to have an impartial, fair probe," Andanar told state-run dzRB.
"Those who will be found liable will be brought to justice. Two lives have been claimed. Imagine, their lives have been put to waste," he added.
Mandaluyong police chief Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran and 10 other policemen have been placed under administrative relief after they mistakenly identify as suspects and shot the people aboard a white Mistubishu adventure on the night of December 29.
Two civilians killed were Jonalyn Ambaan and Jomar Hayaun.
Ambaan's common-law partner, Eliseo, and Danilo Santiago were in critical condition following the incident.
The Department of Justice has already ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to look into the bungled police operation. (VoxPop Philippines)
