THE greyhound operation conducted by the Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, on November 30 resulted in the confiscation of improvised weapons and cellular phones.
Inspector Jumcarvi Rosales, officer-in-charge of NODJ, in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and barangay officials, led the operation aimed at ensuring the non-entry of any contraband particularly illegal drugs inside the jail.
It is also in line with the nationwide implementation of "Oplan Linis Piitan," a program initiated by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to address the issue of contraband proliferation inside the jails.
Personnel of NODJ are regularly conducting surprise inspections and strict greyhound operations to enforce discipline on persons deprived of liberty and to prevent them from getting involved in issues related to illegal drugs.
"We are highly encouraging the participation of other agencies such as the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, PNP, and the local government units to increase the manpower of the operating team," Jail Officer 2 Juniven Rey Umadhay, NODJ spokesperson said.
