FOR the fourth time around, Indahag National High School and Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) will dispute the secondary girls’ crown of the 2017 Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Public Schools basketball tournament at the West City Central School covered court here.
This, after the Lady Skyhawks crushed CDO National High School Lady Tigers, 66-20 and the Lady Cavaliers thrashed Bulua National High School, 43-17 in separate semifinal matches over the weekend.
“It’s very interesting and exciting kay ika-upat na kini nga higayon nga mag-agbat ang duha ka teams sa (because this is the fourth time that the two teams will compete in the) secondary championship game,” tournament overseer Raul Fuentes told VoxPop Cagayan de Oro.
Indahag and MOGCHS started their storied rivalry in the first three seasons of the Oro Speed Inter-Public Schools Basketball Tournament conceptualized then by former city councilor, lawyer Hilario Roy Raagas.
Lately, the Lady Skyhawks barely escaped from the hands of the Lady Cavaliers via 42-41 win in the elimination round, shortly after the Skyhawks’ first ever title finish in the Loyola Cup at the Xavier University gym.
Organizers have yet to announce the official playdates of the championship games in elementary and high school boys’ and girls’ divisions of the every weekend inter-public hoopfest.
Already, Bulua National High School defeated Tablon National High School, 55-43 to claim the third-place honor in secondary boys’ category.
