THE index crime incidents in Davao City were almost halved in 2016 compared to the preceding year.
In a press conference, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Catherine dela Rey said that from January to December 2016, the index crime rate in the city has decreased by 42 percent, from 4,032 index crime in 2015 to 2,340 in 2016.
Dela Rey also said for crime against person, the murder incident decreased by 26 percent from 219 to 162 while for crimes against property such as robbery has reduced by 40.35 percent from 565 to 337.
For the crime of theft, DCPO posted 54 percent decline from 2,036 to 937 only in 2016.
Likewise, the average monthly crime rate decreased by 19.06 percent and for total crime volume, it lessened by 25.15 percent, from 13,720 in 2015 to 10,269 by 2016.
The DCPO noted the crime solution efficiency has increased by 0.76 percent.
Dela Rey attributed this accomplishment to the intensified police operations and the cooperation of the public after immediately reporting information about criminal activities.
