CASTROL-YOKOHAMA champion race car driver Iñigo Anton continued his winning streak after ruling the 11th leg of the National Slalom Series at the Tarlac Circuit Hill track to clinch his 10th overall win in the Novice division.
The win also inched Anton closer to the overall title in the front wheel drive division by taking his fifth win against the seasoned veterans.
Anton overcame engine problems on Saturday during his practice sessions as the Mark Young-Mohspeed racing team had to work thru the night to re-built the engine.
Although practice was limited due to this, the 13-year old Baguio Achievers Academy student did not let that stop him from taking seven division wins and two overall class wins at the end of the day.
“I am so happy we still won in spite of all the problems we had the day before. We would have been happy just to score points today but God still blessed us with the wins,” Anton said.
Anton clocked 71.38 seconds around the course, almost a full three seconds faster than 2nd placer Vegil Calayo of JAF racing who checked in with 74.18 on his final run.
Thailand bound racers Jevoy Moreno and Richard Gallardo along with Powee Base of Rennsport rounded up the top 5 in the front wheel drive division.
Anton now shifts his focus this Sunday on a eight hour endurance race at the Clark International Speedway where he will partner with his champion father Carlos, Formula 3 champion Tyson Sy, and fou time Karter of the Year Stefano Marcelo in the Parts Pro racing EG.
“I know it will be tough racing for eight hours straight but I think I have the best team mates on the grid and it should be really fun,” Iñigo said. (Roderick Osis)
