MUNTINLUPA Medical Center director Dr. Uriel Halum said Wednesday that the stab wounds obtained by the high-profile inmates in a riot at the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) were meant to kill.
Inmate Tony Co was killed while Jaybee Sebastian, Peter Co and Vicente Sy obtained stab wounds in several parts of their body after they were involved in a riot inside the penitentiary's maximum security compound.
Halum said Tony was declared dead on arrival after he sustained stab wound near his heart while Sebastian and Co sustained major stab wounds.
He added that Sy was the only one who did not undergo operation as he only sustained minor stab wound on his back.
"Tony Co has a multiple puncture wound in his abdomen and chest, [he was] dead on arrival. Jaybee suffered multiple puncture wound also at the chest and right and left and back and suffered pneumo hymotorax so he was rushed immediately to the operating room [but] he is now in the recovery room. Peter Co suffered from multiple stab wounds in the chest and suffered pneumohemothorax. Vicente Sy [obtained] multiple puncture wound [on the] left chest and back. No surgery required for Sy," said Halum.
He said there is no need for the inmates to be transferred to other hospital as they are already in stable condition. (Sunnex)
