ISABELA Mayor Enrique Montilla has ordered the police to strictly monitor the reported overloading of tricycles in the municipality.
The order to Chief Inspector Edfel Balibadlan, head of Isabela Municipal Station, came after an accident Thursday involving an overloaded tricycle that claimed the life of a young girl and injured 12 students in Barangay Guintubhan.
Investigation showed the students who just came from school boarded the tricycle driven by 51-year-old Felix Pasolinao.
The tricycle was overloaded and Pasonilao was speeding, it added.
The victims were rushed to a hospital, where Stephanie Ladriño was pronounced dead.
Montilla said the Municipal Government has already extended funeral assistance to the girl’s family, and to those who were injured.
Balibadlan said he directed his men to implement the ordinance against overloading, which states that a tricycle must only have six passengers.
Those who will be caught having more than six passengers will be fined or imprisoned. (TDE)
