A JAIL officer shot a man who hurt a village watchman in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City on Sunday morning, June 4.

Jail Officer 1 Cloyd Campomanes, 32, used his .9mm service pistol in shooting Danilo Dileca, who survived after he was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center.

Campomanes seized a .32 revolver from Dileca. He was not arrested.

Cebu City Police Station 9 received a call about the incident at 7 a.m.

Cebu City Jail Warden Arnel Peralta said they will submit a report to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Central Visayas about the incident.

He said it is up to their regional director to decide whether BJMP should conduct a separate investigation on Campomanes.

"He is a snappy officer," Peralta said of Campomanes. "He often seized packs of cigarettes thrown inside the jail's premises by motorcycle-for-hire drivers."

Campomanes was driving his motorcycle on his way to Cebu City Jail in Kalunasan past 5 a.m. when he passed by Dileca allegedly pushing the watchman off a motorcycle on the bridge in Guadalupe.

Dileca's motorcycle reportedly hit the watchman's motorcycle before it happened. The watchman wanted to settle their score at the police station.

Campomanes shot Dileca, after the latter tried to pull out his gun tucked in his waist. (VoxPop Cebu)
