HE WAS one of the representatives of the Municipality of Mawab to the Garbo Comvalenyo - the most prestigious singing competition in Compostela Valley where he grabbed the Grand Finalist title in 2008.
“Hi I am Jake Alaras Baladad, 24 years old, presently residing at Purok 1, Poblacion, Mawab, Compostela Valley. I studied at Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School. I also went to Davao del Norte State College and STI Education Center of Tagum City. Currently, I am working at the Local Government Unit of Mawab at the Municipal Treasurer’s Office. I started singing when I was in first year high school. I joined and engaged in school activities, became part of a choral group and literary organizations. I proudly represented our school in different literary competitions,” Baladad shared.
Jake has not really enrolled in any voice lesson academy to enhance his talent. He mentioned that he tried to enhance his skills through practicing and listening to music that fits his vocal range. Knowing he has gleaned enough confidence, he joined Star of Davao Season 5 which was held at NCCC Mall and finished as semi-finalist.
He became a grand finalist in Pinoy Idol sa Tagum at JS Gaisano in 2010.
Four years later, he became Grand Champion in the Vocal Duet during the Philippine Youth Association Regional Competition while representing his home province.
He remembers auditioning for reality shows in television like Tawag ng Tanghalan, Pilipinas Got Talent and Bet ng Bayan and is hopeful that one day he will be seen on television. Jake is into organizing events and is singing in weddings and parties while pursuing a secondary education course with a major in English in Panabo.
“In the field of singing, you experience winning and losing; but what matters is I learned from my experiences and I grew as an artist. Faith, perseverance and dedication keep me going with prayers to our Almighty God,” he shares.
