THE John Wick team emerged champion in the just-concluded 10th APM Open Tatluhan Team Chess Tournament held at the Damosa Market Basket, Lanang, Davao City.
Harrison Maamo, Lyndon Sombilon and Ronnel Alsado combined forces to earn a total of 13.5 points in the six-round Swiss System format chessfest.
They received a cash prize of P7,000 over next three placers Barangay 5-A (13.5), Davao del Norte Capitol (11.5) and Ed's Warriors (11.5).
Barangay 5-A received P4,000 while Davao del Norte and Ed's Warriors pocketed P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
Earl Rhay Mantilla topped board one while Reynaldo Gempero ruled board one and Ronnel Alsado governed board three. The board winners each claimed P500.
Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) players, meanwhile, scored perfect 10 points to clinch the Kiddies dalawahan title over six-pointers Enocmoul and Dark Knight who occupied the next two places.
The Davraa team was bannered by Wesly Jovan Magbanua and David Patrick Belisario who went home with P1,000 while the next two winners grabbed P600 and P400.
Magbanua and Belisario also emerged champions in their respective boards. The 11th APM Chess Tournament is set on March 5.
