LAGAWE, Ifugao -- The Malacañang declared Monday, June 19, as a special non-working day in the province as it marks its 51st founding anniversary.
The Office of the Governor requested June 19 be declared as a special non-working holiday instead of June 18 as it falls on a Sunday.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ifugao be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the Proclamation stated.
Ifugao was formerly a part of the old Mountain Province.
On June 18, 1966, Ifugao finally gained status as a province with the signing into law of House Bill 1526 otherwise known as Republic Act 4695 or the Division Law of Mountain Province. (PR)
