THE green light is on for the staging of the 32nd Lumba Bisiklita sa Kadayawan, an event organized by the Citywide Cycling Association of Davao (Cicad) and Davao City Sports Cooperative, Incorporated and sanctioned by PhilCycling that will unreel on August 26 at the Crocodile Park Grounds along Diversion Road in Ma-a, Davao City.

PhilCycling deputy secretary general for Mindanao and Cicad president Salvador Paholio bared this in a recent Davao Sportswriters Association Forum at NCCC Mall Davao B3 Center family room.

Paholio said the free-registration event is a program of the Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office that will serve as preparation for the city's riders in upcoming national competitions such as the Batang Pinoy.

“Our athletes are already geared up for this event,” Paholio said.

He also thanked Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio who gave them assistance in upgrading the bikes of the city riders.

Paholio cited that they also transferred the venue to Crocodile Park Grounds to ensure the safety of participants. The annual bikefest was held in Barangay Langub in recent years.

Paholio, however, said participants will compete in road bike individual and team competitions, mountain bike and BMX.

Individual champions will receive P3,000 while the runners-up will pocket P2,000 and P1,000 will go to the third placer.

Team winners will then receive P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000.
