SOME 20 teams are expected to compete in the upcoming 32nd Kadayawan Bowling Tournament that will roll off on August 14 at the Dover Mega Lanes, Bonifacio Street, Davao City.

Davao City Bowlers Association (Daciba) officer Bong Villanueva, who was joined by Daciba president Jerson Tamayo in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the Annex of SM City Davao, said the defending champion Daciba-SMA Eagles headed by Federation of Duckpin Bowlers of the Philippines (FedBop) chairman Emie Orteza will try to retain its title in the annual event sponsored by the City Government of Davao through the Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).

Tamayo, however, said there are no visiting teams considering the ongoing Martial Law in Mindanao.

"Local teams lang muna from Davao City ang mga na-invite namin," Tamayo said.

A team shall be composed of five players who will play in the six-game elimination series.

Games will also be held on August 16 and 18. The top four teams in the eliminations will advance to the championship round on August 19 with the No. 1 qualifier earning a twice-to-beat advantage.

Cash prizes await winners with the champion taking home P10,000 while the next three placers will take home P8,000, P6,000 and P4,000, respectively.

The highest team single and highest team double will receive P1,000 each while the highest individual single, highest individual double and highest pinning will pocket P500 apiece.
