IN CELEBRATION of the 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw, the Davao Volleyball Association (Dava), through the Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office, will hold a Kids Volleyball Competition set on August 12 to 20 at the Davao City National High School Gym.
Dava president D'Artagnan Yambao said this year's edition will feature 12 years and below as part of the grassroots development program of the Philippine Volleyball Federation and Dava.
"This age group lacks exposure and tournaments. Bihira na kasi mga tournaments for kids and they have been requesting us to have events for them," Yambao said.
Yambao, however, said it would be an opportunity to orient the kids on the technical rules of the sport.
Since the free volleyball clinic did not push through last summer, the kids’ volleyfest will instead be held.
Yambao expects 16 to 20 teams in both girls and boys categories.
Cash prizes and medals will be given to the top four teams.
