Kadayawan pushes through amid martial law

DESPITE the martial law extension, Davao City administrator Zuleika Lopez assured that the city will welcome local and foreign visitors in the 32nd Kadayawan celebration.

"The mayor has mentioned in her message during the Davao Investment Conference, it is business as usual in Davao City, pag mag-cocontinue ang martial law things will go on as planned," Lopez told reporters on Monday, July 24.

Lopez said the private sector is taking the lead in the Kadayawan preparations. However, the private sector and the local government will provide support in peace and order situation.

"From what I understand with Festival Director Gatchi Gatchalian, things are working very well, the sponsors are helping out for the execution of all the activities," Lopez said.

She said that the city is all set, adding, "As the Davao City mayor said she is looking forward to welcoming everyone, festival, or business we are open as usual," Lopez added. (KVC)
