CAGAYAN de Oro’s Francis Casey Alcantara and Benjamin Lock of Zimbabwe pulled impressive winning streak before yielding to the much tougher foes in the finals of the recently-concluded Bahrain F1 Men’s Futures doubles.
The pair of Alcantara and Lock bested two heavily-favored opponents in the doubles competition, starting with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of second-seed Anis Ghorbel of Tunisia and Jorge Montero of Chile in the quarterfinals.
The duo followed it up with another impressive demolition of the third-seeded Uzbekistan tandem of Sanjar Fayziev and Shaningmatjon Shofayziyev, 7-6 (2), 6-0 in the semifinals.
The 25-year-old Alcantara and the 24-year-old Lock, however, found the Swedish duo of Markuss Eriksson and Milos Sekulic too strong to handle.
Installed as the No.1 seed, Eriksson and Sekulic fashioned out a lopsided 6-3, 6-1 beating of Alcantara and Lock who captured the doubles championship in the Egypt F8 Men’s Futures some weeks ago.
