NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. urged media practitioners in the province to remain committed in their responsibility to keep standing for the truth.
Marañon made this call during the courtesy visit of the new set of officers of the Negros Press Club (NPC) at the Provincial Capitol Building in Bacolod City Thursday, March 8.
“Media should focus on the truth that is not for the convenience of one person,” he told the NPC officers, adding that “you should not be used by others for their agenda and report only what is true.”
The governor congratulated the club officers for representing the media practitioners in the province.
Recognizing the difficulty and risks of media works like being susceptible to threats, intimidation and even killings, Marañon reminded journalists and reporters in the province to remain vigilant.
He also urged local mediamen to contribute in the development of the province through one, communication to the public successful programs of the Provincial Government like in education, health, and agriculture, among others.
