THE Kabacan Elementary School (KES) and Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) shared top honors in the just-concluded Davao Volleyball Association (DAVA)-organized 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Kids Volleyball held at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) Gym.
KES boys’ team recovered from a first set loss and defeated Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS) 23-23, 25-17, 25-20, to emerge champion in the boys division of the event presented by the Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office (SDD-CMO) in celebration with the 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival.
Lester John Lumbano led the charge for KES and romped away with the most valuable player (MVP) award.
Addu boys’ team spanked Matina Central Elementary School (MCES) 21-25, 25-20, to secure the third spot.
The Lorenzo Michael Porras-coached ADDU girls, meanwhile, posted a 25-23, 25-23 win over University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC) to annex the girl's division title.
Katherina Angelique Espero of ADDU was hailed the MVP.
KES girls, however, beat PNJKIS 25-12, 25-21, in the fighting for third place.
The champion teams received medals and P5,000 while the next two placers took home P4,000 and P3,000, respectively.
Special awards were also given to Ryu Ampan of PNJKIS (best scorer), Klint Iczer De Gracia of PNKJIS (best blocker), Jayrad Adeva of Addu (best blocker), Angelo Amores of KES (best setter), Andrie Kristoff Amaneo of ADDU (best server), John Paul Abonda of KES (best receiver) and Genevieve Zuniga as the best coach in the boys divisions.
In the girls division, Alshaila Noro of UIC (best scorer), Sophia Pabilona of KES (best attacker), Cheska Monic Tan of UIC (best blocker), Allexa Mae Quilaton of UIC (best setter), Maria Odcena of ADDU (best server), Ella Marie Temporado of ADDU (best receiver) and Porras (best coach) also received special awards.
