“ONE BC: Blending our strength through sportsmanship” was a fitting dictum for this year’s event reflecting not just student potentials but also their character as sports enthusiasts and lovers of challenges.
Brokenshire College held its annual Mister and Miss Intramurals 2016 pageant on September 16 which featured eight girls and eight boys who represented the college’s different departments.
The Mistress and Master of Ceremonies Gecelle Galenzoga and Dj Skip-O Jack, respectively, made the evening a pleasure for everyone in attendance through their humor, good nature and off-the-cuff remarks.
The judges for the pageant included no less than Bb. Pilipinas 2016 Second Runner-up Jehza Mae Huelar, Mutya ng Davao 2016 Allyza Molly Teodoro, Miss Beauche International Visayas Irjana Arcena, FHM 2011 Miss Darrela Kate Necessario and Davao PGT Semi Finalist Mr. Gian Bacalso.
Everyone was excited when the pageant finally began. All the members of the competing teams were present-shouting and cheering for their respective representatives. All the candidates oozed with beauty and charms, donning their creative fantasy attire. And no doubt, it was indeed a sizzling hot number followed by the sportswear competition with the pairs in their fashionable and elegant sports suit.
Next part was the practicum attire, with the candidates wearing their departmental senior’s uniform. During the preliminary round’s question and answer portion, each contender had a chance to pick up questions which tackled social issues and personal experiences.
It was not only a night of beauty and physique as the candidates were also asked to express their thoughts. After a careful selection by the judges based on beauty, physique, and brain, the contestants were trimmed down to four pairs.
The competition was tough among the lovely ladies and men representing the Intermediate Category. Hailed as the Social Media Prince and Princess were Jaymar Cranzo and Prines Euclid Tatoy, the Mr. and Ms. Photogenic title was grabbed by Prines Euclid Tatoy and Samantha Marion Atega, respectively. The Best in Fantasy Attire also went to Alexis Rasucay, Best in Practicum Attire to Alfredo Jose Abundo, Best in Sports Attire to Ian Dave M. Lendio and the Best in Formal Attire is Joemarie Perez.
The third place was also bagged by Ms. Jaymar Cranzo and Mr. Prines Euclid Tatoy from Information Technology department while those who were chosen as the second runners-up were Ms. Darrela Jay Yana and Mr. Alexis Rasucay who are both from the Psychology department. Education Department’s Ms. Lady Love Boniel and Mr. Ian Dave Lendio got the first runner-up title.
Ninth grader Samantha Marion Atega and 10th grader Mister Joemarie Perez who are from the Basic Education Department’s Jaguar team had bested all the others when they were proclaimed as winners.
Atega won the Best in Fantasy Attire, Practicum, Sports, and Formal wears.
The pageant was sponsored by the Brokenshire College, Camp Holiday Resort and Recreation Park, Midtown Printing Press while the committee and production team were headed by Nestle Joy Arguilla – Chairperson, Eden Galvez- Co-Chair, Nessa Maureen Cabiles, Vince Joseph Venida, Cristine Abarquez, Monico Malubay, Josieliza Charcos and Eleamae Calotes, and supported by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Felix Chavez Jr., Dean of the School of Nursing Dr. Ruby M. Uy, Dean of Arts and Sciences Dr. Melchorita Salvador, Business School Dean Dr. Carolina Remerata, Medicine School Dean Dr. Warlito Vicente and School Principal- Dr. Josabeth Dumanig.
