CEBUANA actress Kim Chiu said she was saddened upon hearing the news that Justin Bieber canceled the rest of his "Purpose World Tour".
The Canadian pop superstar announced last week that he's abruptly ending his scheduled shows in the US and Asia, including his September 30 concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, "due to unforeseen circumstances".
Chiu said that after the announcement was made, she was immediately bombarded by comments and messages on her social media.
"Pag gising ko ng umaga, one thousand plus notifications sa Twitter. (Sabi ko) 'ano ang nangyar?' Tapos yun nga sa balita. Nalungkot sila for me," she said in a Cinema News interview.
The Kapamilya star added that she was disappointed that Bieber is no longer coming to Manila.
"Nalungkot ako. Hindi lang naman ako, marami ang nalungkot. Pero siyempre, Hollywood star, choice nila yun. May right kasi sila na pag gusto din nilang magpahinga," she said.
To recall, Chiu caught the attention of the international singer when he was doing an Instagram Live last July 11.
The actress was one of the thousands who watched his broadcast and left a message "see you in the Philippines!" to which Bieber responded, "Chinita, I will see you in the Philippines".
Chiu said she was looking forward to the show but, the fans have no choice but to respect Bieber's decision.
"Sobra ko talagang ni-look forward yung pagdating ni Justin, kahit di niya ako pansinin, mapanood ko lang siya. Lahat naman nang bumili ng ticket ay na-disappoint. Okay lang, that's life, let's move on," she said.
Bieber has been on tour for the last 18 months, staging more than 150 shows on six continents, before his team announced the cancellation. (VoxPop Philippines)
