QUEEN of All Media Kris Aquino is going to be part of a Hollywood movie.
This was disclosed by the television host herself after she auditioned and was picked for the international project.
Aquino recalled that she was supposed to do two local shows, but it did not pushed through because hiring her was a "political risk not worth taking."
On the latter part of last month, Tony and Grammy award winning producer Jhett Tolentino contracted her through her closest friends.
"He was helping a Filipino-Chinese-American agent friend of his reach me to ask if I'd want to audition for a big Hollywood studio movie about to start filming," she wrote.
Aquino and her team had only 72 hours to produce her audition reel.
"I felt I had nothing to lose, so we went for it. We shot, they immediately edited & color graded, both my audition scenes & video BIO. Sunday we sent the high definition material. And we waited. And prayed."
The TV host passed 5 levels of "intense scrutiny" and was eventually offered a role in the movie. In fact, she's now in Los Angeles, California meeting her agent to seal the deal.
Aquino said it's a surreal moment for her to be reading a script from a major Hollywood studio with her name on it.
"I am proof that in life doors will shut & there will be heartbreaking setbacks but FAITH in God's plan will open new, unexpected doors. We just need to trust in His love, provision, restoration & perfect timing. Grace is unmerited; it's God's gift we humbly receive with a heart overflowing with gratitude."
After Aquino announced on Easter Sunday her upcoming Hollywood project, netizens were already abuzz on what movie she will appear in.
Most of her followers guessed that she could be casted as one of the characters in the movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan's 2013 international bestselling novel "Crazy Rich Asians."
Netizens pointed out that Aquino shared Kwan's three books as her recommended reads during the Lenten season and that Kwan himself followed Aquino on Instagram.
The book tells the story of the hush-hush world of the mega rich families in Asia. It follows a Chinese-American professor and her boyfriend, who happens to be the heir to his families’ massive fortune.
Warner Bros. acquired the movie rights to "Crazy Rich Asians" in October and is gearing up for an all-Asian cast.
If this deal goes through and if Aquino is indeed casted for the said movie, she will work with international stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno, and Michelle Yeoh. (VoxPop Philippines)
