NEGROS Island Region men’s football team, bannered by the multi-titled Ceres-backed University of St. La Salle varsity team, remained as the best in the country after defending its crown against Central Visayas Friday.
The match was part of the 2017 Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) National Games at Ramon Magsaysay Technological University football field in Iba, Zambales.
Coach Norman Fegidero’s Negrense booters overcame the 40-degree heat and outplayed Central Visayas, 3-1 on pair of goals by skipper Nessi Ramos and one from Jo Bedia. Ramos and Bedia scored a goal each to lead the Negrenses in a 2-1 half time advantage.
This is the first major championship cup that Fegidero’s side won after securing the 2017 Philippine Football Federation (PFF)-Smart U22 Regional Championships earlier this year.
Wearing the NIR colors are Florence Agraviador, Joshua Dutosme, Regie Cesneros, Charles Ralphie Dabao, Charles Ivan Barberan, Charles Fegidero, Tristan Kit Robles, Ramie Dizon, Rio Ian Perez, Van Llyod Baguioro, Ashli Pamilar, Kent Guevarra, John Mark Jamelo and Mark Samuel Jadloc.
Also in the team are assistant coach Carlo Andrew Demegillo, the medical staff headed by Dr. Emily Zerudo, with Janelle Melleza and Angelic Jessica de Guzman. (HGD)
