THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC)-Davao has recorded 398 labor cases filed from January to May this year.
Record obtained from NLRC-Davao showed that of the 398 labor cases, there were 111 new cases filed before the office in May.
There were already 121 cases disposed of in the same period, of which some cases were settled and others had been decided.
A total of 29 cases are still under investigation.
NLRC-Davao executive labor arbiter lawyer Elmer Ben Pasion said the usual complaints are illegal termination coupled with underpayment of salaries and non-payment in other labor standard services.
Aside from the local areas, the NLRC has already recorded 36 cases of labor complaints from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), who were victimized by contract and salary differential issues.
These OFWs are against their recruiters and foreign principals or employers.
The NLRC-Davao has so far served 464 clients, including OFW cases from January to May this year. It has already won 69 percent labor cases and 31 percent of management cases.
The main mandate of the NLRC is to adjudicate labor and management disputes involving both local and overseas workers through compulsory arbitration and alternative modes of dispute resolution.
