Lady Cardinals wins 4th in a row

UNIVERSITY of Baguio scored their fourth straight victory Monday afternoon after sinking Saint Louis University in women’s basketball of the BBEAL season 30.

The Lady Cardinals scored their fourth straight in as many games as it takes on another unbeaten team University of the Cordilleras later this week

Cristy Ramilo led the Lady Cardinals with 18 points, while Janine Orca bucked early foul trouble to contribute 13 points which led by as much as 18.

Gracelyn Pagaduan started hot for the team as she provided UB’s first two baskets and wound up with 10. Elijah Mae Payad made use of the time given inside as she had nine points, even as Briquel Garcia made only eight.

Hazelle Habon meanwhile rallied the Lady Navigators with 11 points at the end of the third quarter and finished with 27 points.

But her teammates struggled with Denise Espejo adding 11. Ma. Noime Tabdac had nine points for the team which now carries a 2-2 win-loss card and still needs to complete the elimination Saturday.

Earlier, Abegail Dennis scored 18 points to lead the UC Lady Jaguars against neighbor UP - Baguio to improve to 3-0 win-loss slate.

Kathleen Bangtowan added 11 points for UC which has beaten PMA in a rout during the team’s debut Monday last week. Bangtowan says it will be a tough game Saturday at 10 AM when they face UB at their own court.

“We can beat them,” she said adding they have to watch tightly three of UB’s main players: Ramilo, Orca and Lagmay. “Sa tingin ko naman kakayanin namin po sila,” added Bangtowan. (Sharma Buteng with PML)
