THE 691 student-beneficiaries of the “Tulong Dunong Program” is assured of continued education assistance as P5.1 million has been allocated for the program for school year 2017 to 2018, a lawmaker said.
Representative Celso Lobregat (1st District, Zamboanga City) committed to allocate funds for the education assistance program of the student-beneficiaries.
Of the total, 324 are enrolled at the Western Mindanao State University; 81, Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology; 126, Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College; 105, Ateneo de Zamboanga University; and 55, Southern City Colleges.
Each of the student-beneficiaries will receive P3,000 per semester education assistance under the existing program.
Those enrolled in private colleges and universities receive P6,000 per semester.
Lobregat clarified the student-beneficiaries enrolled in SUCs can use the assistance to defray other expenses such as miscellaneous and other fees since the free tuition policy takes effect for School-Year 2017-2018. ( Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
