LEA Salonga said all is well now with her daughter Nicole after a recent unpleasant encounter with several fans.
On Monday, the Broadway star took to micro-blogging site Twitter to air her displeasure after Nicole came running back at her crying.
Salonga said she has always been accommodating with her supporters but when her child is dragged in an unruly behavior, she had no choice but to step in.
"When you mess with my kid and make her cry, you've messed with me," she wrote. "And you do not want to see me angry."
The seasoned theater actress added that she might have to refuse photo requests from fans because of the incident.
In an interview with Salonga on Wednesday evening at the "Disney Princess: I Dare to Dream" concert at the Mall of Asia Arena, she said that Nicole is now doing fine.
"It's just jarring when I see my kid cry. And for me that's just not cool. And you incur the wrath of my whole family when you do that," she told entertainment press at the Disney and Globe sponsored event.
Without going into details, the singer disclosed that it was her mom who explained to her daughter the situation.
Salonga added that she's grateful for the support of all her fans but everyone needs to remember to respect personal space.
"When personal boundaries and space are violated how am I supposed to react as the mom of the kid? I do become a normal mom and I do get angry."
"I may not always want to give a hug because you are a stranger, and I don't know what your intentions are. There's also that. Malay ko may kutsilyo ka nang nakahawak and baka saksakin mo ako pag niyakap mo ako. I think that kind of paranoia is in the minds of a lot of artists, and you should rightfully have that."
She said artists like her also have the responsibility to keep themselves safe from harm.
Salonga added that she was just protecting her child.
"If our assistants, managers, bodyguards act in the way that they do, it's so that you will still have an idol to idolize tomorrow," Salonga ended. (VoxPop Philippines)
