THE Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Davao recorded a significant decrease in backlog of drivers' license cards for three-year validity since June 2014.
LTO-Davao regional director Gomer Dy said 1,761 drivers have received their cards from the period of July 21, 2017 up to August 2, 2017.
Based on the data given by LTO-Davao, a backlog of 23,352 cards was recorded as of Wednesday, August 2, lower compared to 25,113 recorded last July 21, 2017.
Dy said that distribution of cards started last December 2016.
He added that while a decrease of the number of cards for three-year validity has been noted, the backlog of cards with five-year validity increased.
The application of the five-year validity of cards started last November 2, 2016, and since then no card was issued.
From November 2, 2016, they recorded 129,771 backlogs for the five-year validity cards, with 123,989 recorded on July 21, 2017.
He said that they are still waiting for the release of the cards, which will have security features, from the national office.
Go also said that there is an estimated total of 150,000 to 180,000 motor vehicles in the region.
He added that nationwide, there are some 8.2 million vehicles but only 7.2 million have license card.
