Liwan, Borromeo tops Lepanto golf tilt

SONNY Liwan shot 57 to top class A while Eddie Borromeo fired 60 to bag the championship in class B at the close of the 1st Lepanto Golf Cup at the Baguio Country Club.

Liwan bested close to a hundred parbusters from all over Baguio and Benguet including Ramir Badua who shot 58 to settle for second place while Mar Bustos had 59 to salvaged third place in the tournament hatched as part of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Corporation's anniversary.

Louie Leganzo meanwhile shot 60 points as it slid to place with Borromeo having the lower handicap. Ramon Alimba salvaged third place with 61 points.

In the seniors division, John Fomaneg had 60 points to win the title as Deo Halog came in second while Cesar Romualdo had 61 markers to limp home with the third place honors.

In the ladies division, Marianne Bustos shot 59 points to bring home the top prize in the ladies division. Dina De Guzman and Normie Dela Cruz shot 62 and 61 respectively to bring home second and third place honors.

Special awards went to Rey Yabes for the most accurate drive as Raymond Mondejar bagged the longest drive while Donald Daganos took the nearest to the pin award. (Roderick Osis)
