ANOTHER weather disturbance, this time a low pressure area (LPA), was monitored at 280 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, while Typhoon Paolo was moving north northwest.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA will bring scattered light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains over Palawan.
Paolo, on the other hand, has maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 145 kph. It was spotted at 735 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 18.
Pagasa said Paolo was forecast to move north northwest at 20 kph.
The typhoon will bring moderate to heavy rains in areas within its 450-kilometer diameter. Its outer rainbands will bring scattered moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and Caraga, and light to moderate rains over the rest of southern Luzon, Visayas and of Mindanao.
Residents in those areas have been alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Pagasa said that sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.
