THE Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has temporarily closed its office in Bacolod City due to alleged corruption issues.
This was confirmed by LTRFB-Western Mindanao spokesman Jose Marie Lamparero, who said the closure started only this month,
“But we are open to processing of documents on Wednesdays and Thursdays,” he said.
Lamparero said on the alleged corruption uncovered: “We would like to correct those issues. Aside from that, we are also fixing electricity lines and beautifying our office.”
The agency has only two permanent personnel in Bacolod.
Diego Malacad, secretary-general of United Negros Drivers and Operators Center, said reports of alleged anomalies and corruption in its local office forced the LTFRB-6 to shut it down temporarily.
“The corruption of the personnel victimized operators in the city and Negros Occidental,” he said.
Malacad said he hopes the LTFRB will re-open its office in Bacolod so it can serve the transport sector in Negros Occidental.
“They should assign personnel and officials here who are not corrupt,” he added.
