A GROUP of taxi drivers and operators in Cagayan de Oro City is supporting the move of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-Northern Mindanao to intensify the campaign against drivers who snub passengers.
Bernie Jamaca, president of Cagayan de Oro First Taxi Drivers Alliance (Cafitada), said this is a continuing campaign against erring taxi drivers who refuse to pick up passengers especially this holiday season.
The LTFRB-Northern Mindanao has launched this week the strong enforcement of the “Oplan Isnabero” to ensure that taxi commuters are appropriately treated by the drivers.
The regional opffice has been receiving complaints against apparently selective taxi drivers.
“Kanang mobalibad kay layo ra kaayo unya ang dalan dili daw maayo. (Some drivers refused due to long distance and the uneven roads),” said Alma Padua, resident of Macanhan, Carmen, in the city.
Jamaca urged passengers who have complaints against erring drivers to report to LTFRB-Northern Mindanao so that appropriate action can be taken by the agency.
Jamaca said erring drivers will be penalized with P5,000 for the first offense, P10,000 for the second offense and P15,000 for the third offense and possible cancellation of franchise and revocation of driver's license.

"Nanawagan kita sa atong mga kaubgang drivers nga tarongon pagtratar ang mga pasahero. Gi-aghat sad ang publiko nga ireport kining mga isnabero nga taxi drivers (We are calling for our co-drivers to accommodate the passengers well. We also encourage the public to report snobbish drivers),"Jamaca said.
